This tumultuous world can feel WAY bigger than any one human should be expected to deal with.
- Tender hearts are battered and bruised by the headlines of chaos and collapse everywhere we turn.
- Systems we thought could protect the vulnerable have been exposed as weak or prone to corruption or - worst of all - designed to be harmful all along.
- Things feel dire, you know action is needed - but you might be feeling overwhelmed and frozen, and you don’t want to take action that creates more chaos or breaks your relationships.
- You might be a seasoned activist, horrified that we have to fight the same old fights; or you might be new to situations like this (*waves around generally*) so it might have you saying WTactualF?? and unsure what to do next.
The good news?
There's a powerful force which can create healing at both a personal level AND at the wider sociopolitical level, a force which can smash open that pathway to power, guide your actions and even fuel and guide what you do in the world.
It can nourish you and soothe you AND it is the raw power behind what will replace authoritarianism with something more beautiful and far more sustainable.
We’ve been taught to see compassion as soft and even weak; but wielded with skill, compassion has always been the most potent antidote to authoritarianism. That's why fascists will always condemn and dismiss it: they know and fear its true power.
Compassion contains both the gentle energy of kindness, and the fierce courage to make what the late Rep John Lewis called 'good trouble'.
With skilled, deliberate and tactical compassion, partnered with effective protection for your own heart and psyche, so much more becomes possible.
You can:
- read the news without falling into a spiral of existential angst
- create and implement action plans for how you'll participate in defending democracy, without risking burnout or the accidental shattering of your relationships
- be a better ally for people from historically marginalised groups - including when that feels bumpy or rocky to you
- navigate turbulent times with more balance and groundedness, making it so much easier to take actions to make a difference
- undertake the complicated conversations that open the door to creative solutions
- provide relief to your sensitive, empathic heart, so you no longer have to turn away from the suffering and can contribute to the healing
- tap into the unexpected hidden energies which support these good things
- activate compassion as your own inner superpower, to help you choose and take powerful action in a world that currently has you feeling helpless (by design)
There's a murmur rising up, an increase in voices talking about the power of compassion and its allies love, peace, kindness - and that's in part a response to the astrological weather of 2025, as well as a response to the rise of authoritarianism in the world.
In short, 2025 has been a very Aquarius / Uranus kind of year: innovation, rebellion, smashing old paradigms, change.
That's great IN THEORY, because it's all about changing systems to make them ultimately more humane and fair - but the underlying drive for change is 'the potential of how humans could be' rather than compassion.
In other words - Uranus doesn't care too much about the individuals whose lives might be torn apart along the way; his vision is on the 'higher prize' of a fairer system in the long run.
This is where you and I come in.
We need to bring the compassion, in all its various dimensions (tender, fierce, self-inclusive, courageous), to help navigate the upheaval AND to keep our own selves connected to our power.
But - especially for those of us raised in systems based on the Hollywood concept of 'rugged individualism' - that can be easier said than done.
Where do we begin? How do we step into compassion without becoming a doormat? How do I open my heart without risking my safety? How do I stay informed and stay sane? How do I even begin to make a plan???
We upskill (yes, strategic compassion can be learned), and we practice.
And we make it easier by connecting with two major planetary energies - Neptune and Moon - each of which represents our relationship with compassion in very different ways.
Much of what has been unfolding in world politics has been deliberately designed to overwhelm, to make us all feel helpless and hopeless. It can feel like a loss of innocence.
Up until now, you might have just kept pushing through, hoping for the system to apply the brakes; hoping your energy will recover; hoping the experienced activists have got it all handled (they're doing a lot, but they’re likely going to need more help before long); or, if you're an activist, hoping some more bodies join you in whatever way they can (and perhaps wondering why some of our old tactics are no longer working)
A part of you might be thinking that now, or soon, you’re going to have to turn away from the turmoil for your own mental health - but you also know that your empathic heart can still feel all the suffering even when you're not looking at it.
And deep down, you know that turning away from the cries of those in pain is ultimately not good for your heart.
This is why I'm curating a new gathering of good humans like you, to unleash the beautiful, raw power of compassion, so you can open that pathway to power and create your own most aligned action plan for making a difference in the world.
I'd love for you to join us.
